Essaouira, Mogador, the white pearl, is a port city on Morocco’s Atlantic coast. The old fortifications from the 18th century, the city walls, and above all the impressive Andalusian-style old town (medina) are well worth a visit. Since 2001, the medina of Essaouira, with its narrow streets and picturesque white houses with blue-painted windows and doors, has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Strong trade winds provide ideal conditions for surfing, windsurfing, and kitesurfing on the city’s crescent-shaped beach. Its unique atmosphere and pleasant climate inspired famous artists in the 1960s. Today, Essaouira has international flight connections and is the starting point for our tours to the Erg Chigaga desert.
